The finalists of the International Architecture Competition for the New BLF Headquarters are back in Lebanon to showcase their projects – April 15, 2016

Architects Bjarke Ingels (BIG), Fabrizio Barozzi (Barozzi Veiga), Farshid Moussavi (Farshid Moussavi Architecture), Kengo Kuma (Kengo Kuma and Associates), Francesco Fresa (Piuarch), Kjetil Thorsen (Snøhetta), Nabil Gholam (Nabil Gholam Architects) and Youssef Tohmé (YTAA), will present on the 18th and 19th of April, their projects for the new headquarters of Banque Libano-Française (BLF), in front of a jury composed of Walid Raphael (Chairman General Manager at BLF), Raya Raphael Nahas (General Manager at BLF), Luca Molinari (Architect, professor and consultant), Hashim Sarkis (Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at MIT), Jean-Christophe Fromantin (Member of the French parliament and Mayor of Neuilly-sur-Seine) and Li Brian Zhang (Editor-in-chief of the leading magazine World Architecture).

During their stay, the architects will take part in several activities, including a conference entitled “Beirut Urban Lab – Communities, Transformation and Quality of Life”, on Monday, April 18 at 7:00 pm at Sursock Museum, where they will share their vision of Beirut, and the latest world architecture trends, with architects, professors, artists and students.

In the framework of BLF International Architecture Competition launched in 2015, the finalists had visited Beirut in January 2016 for a three-day introductory workshop, to get to know the Bank, the country, the people, and the site of the project.
“BLF new headquarters is meant to be a powerful urban landmark that will improve its surroundings and make the difference in the contemporary city condition. It will have a coherent ecological approach and be green-labeled. It will also be an accessible building, open to the public and will dialogue with Mar Mikhael and Beirut by welcoming public spaces and several connections with its neighborhoods”, said Raya Rapahël Nahas on this occasion.
